How to Install Halon VSP on a VMware Server 2 Host
During the VSP installation (VSPSetup.exe), you should choose to install a "VMware Server 2" environment. Once completed all files required for the Halon VSP to run in the VMware Server 2 including the "Halon VSP-Server2.vmx" file will be placed in a folder chosen during the installation (C:\Program Files\Halon Security\Halon VSP\Virtual Machine\). These files needs to be added to the VMware Server 2 host.
Copy files to Datastore
Start by connecting to your VMware Server 2 host using your web browser. Go to the summary page on the Server 2 host in the listing. View the Location path of the datastore. In this example "C:\Virtual Machines\".
Copy the "Virtual Machine"-folder of the Halon VSP installation to "C:\Virtual Machines\" using (Windows) Explorer. You may rename the "Virtual Machine" folder to a more describing name like "Halon VSP", but I don't in this guide.
- If you copy the machine instead of installing it directly into the Server, or add a custom datastore to your location, you will be able to re-use the Virtual Machine, and reinstall the Halon VSP without risking overwriting any data.
Add Virtual Machine
Choose "Add Virtual Machine to Inventory" and browse your Datastore to the "Virtual Machine" and select the "Halon VSP-Server2.vmx" file and press "OK".
If it doesn't show up, make sure it's copied successfully and press the "Refresh Datastore" button, right below "Add Virtual Machine to Inventory".
Start the Appliance
Start the machine and view the boot process in the VMware console.
Once booted access the unit on the IP-address you assigned during the installation (eg http://192.168.0.1/) using account admin/admin. For further assistance on how to access the unit read our Getting Started or if you want to know more about the how to configure the Mail Gateway.
